Worship on Wednesday — classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. during the school year for children beginning at age 3 and continuing through confirmation instruction. Teachers volunteer their time, and teenager and adult helpers are always welcome!
WELCA
Quilters meet the third Wednesday of each month. A business meeting is conducted during coffee time. Anyone is welcome to participate in the quilting — we can teach you to tie a knot or pin a hem if you don’t already have those skills!
Confirmation Class Requirements
This year of study will be divided into four quarters, with all specified expectations except the leadership segment to be met during each quarter. Service hours will be reported to pastor or teacher as they are completed, with the person receiving assistance documenting time and work provided by the student. The quarterly requirements are as follows:
I. Worship attendance and participation
- Sermon notes – 24 over the course of 2 years, 1 per month.
- Acolyte as assigned by pastor – If unable to acolyte on assigned date, the student is expected to find their replacement.
- Assist with altar guild activities as requested.
- Minimum worship attendance twice a month in person or virtually, or by submitting a bulletin from a visited church. Virtual attendance of a service requires sermon notes.
- Offer bread as assigned to those who have not received first communion instruction.
II. Confirmation class attendance and participation
- Regular class attendance is required.
Makeup for any absences must be arranged with the pastor. - Active participation in class is expected.
III. Community Service
- 10 hours per year.
- The student is expected to keep track of hours served, verified by parental signature.
IV. Feedback to students and Board of Deacons
- The pastor will provide students and parents feedback every semester on how they are progressing toward meeting all of the above requirements.
- Pastor will relay this information to the Board of Deacons as well.
V. Third Year Students
- Completion of all requirements stated above to be presented by the pastor to
the Board of Deacons in order for the student to be approved for Affirmation
of Baptism.
This set of requirements shall be provided to each student and each parent at the beginning of the year, and quarterly updates shall be provided to students and parents for verification.
